Colin is growing like a weed. His little hat is almost too small for him. This little chair was moments from being sold (it’s gone now). And we’re leaving this little apartment next Tuesday for a scary summer of unknowns. But all of life is ephemeral and all joys are fleeting so we do our best to enjoy what we have while it’s here and to smile for the camera when it’s pointed at us.

As part of the follow-up to the adenoid surgery the little bean had back in December of 2011, she recently got to take part in an all night EEG sleep study. A nice scientist named Ray attached an array of electrodes to her head, chest, face, and legs; put a bright red ET glowy thing on her finger; and then went up her nose with a rubber hose (and also into her mouth) to monitor breathing and brainwave activity during sleep*. I went along to keep her company while Jen and Colin were throwing a giant party back at our house (or something, they both seemed exhausted in the morning so I assume it was a giant party).

Colin has been breathing pretty heavily for a while and sounding like Darth Baby. We’d talked to the Dr. about it before and decided to give it time to clear up on its own but recently things have gotten somewhat worse for the poor little fella (like waking himself up coughing in the night worse). Turns out, upon visit to our beloved pediatrician Dr. Rafati, that he has an ear infection and maybe a sinus infection. This trip involved a sidetrip to the X-Ray machine (not shown) which turned up lines of mucus in his lungs that looked scary to us but is apparently no big deal. He’s on antibiotics now and, presuming whatever he has is bacterial in origin, should be back up and not yet on his feet again in no time.

So all that might sound pretty grim but Colin, like his sister before him, never lets on exactly how sick he is. This is what our little buddy looked like today while waiting to be examined (and being examined).
