thank you!

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

We’ve been showered in visitors, gifts, groceries, and prepared meals since bringing little Nora bean home and we tremendously appreciate it. This post is meant as a “thank you” to a few of the people who’ve stopped by to lend a hand. Please note the theme in these photos: Nora sleeps a lot. I just love the face she’s making for Grandma, though.

Shown below are Granny McGowan, Grandpa & Grandma Kusnir, Uncle Brian, Uncle Eric, Aunt Christine, and Gabi. Aunt Colleen already got her own whole post.

thank you, aunt Colleen!

Yesterday I stupidly decided to go back to campus for a few hours and my wonderful sister came in to help Jen with Nora while I was away. Our little Nora bean got to spend some quality time with her auntie and Jen and I got a clean-smelling baby and a large cheese pizza from Buddy’s out of it. Win/win/win if you ask me.

Thanks, aunt Colleen, from all of us!

It’s important to involve the older sibling when a new child enters the home so, this morning, when Jen and I were making and enjoying our breakfast of GabiToast (my french toast recipe with the lovely bread Gabrielle brought us with dinner last night) we let ruggles watch the baby. They seem to get along just fine (for now).

nora!

You can stop guessing, she’s here! Nora Evelyn McGowan was born Monday, 11/26/2007 at 8:41am. She weighed 6lbs 1.5oz and was 19 1/4 inches long. Mom had been in labor since about 10:30 Friday evening and, despite that, we only made it into the delivery room 18 minutes before she was born. It’s a long story (and we’ll write about it here eventually). :)

Here are some pictures of the new baby and our new family.

guess the baby’s birthdate, weight, length, and name

This might be fun. Post your guess (as a comment) here of things like: when the baby will be born, how much she’ll weigh, how long she’ll be, whether she’ll really be a girl, and maybe suggest what you think we should name her (or, with a non-zero probability, him).

The person to come closest on some arbitrary set of these features gets a prize of some sort. Example prizes include: a batch of my (much-lauded) chocolate chip cookies or possibly a bronze cast of the baby’s first solid poop. In the event that Jen and I are too bloody exhausted to produce a suitable prize the lucky winner gets to come over and hold the baby.
