I think we are going to start posting the book we’re currently reading to Nora at bedtime. In part this is so she’ll have a record of it when she’s older, but also so her forgetful father won’t try to read her a book she’s already heard (to the horror of both Nora and Jen who never, ever forget anything ever). I’m a little late with this one as we just finished up Shel Silverstein’s A Light in the Attic last night.
Books we’ve read before that didn’t get posted: all of the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz, and Norton Juster’s The Phantom Tollbooth, all of which she loved. We tried to read the A.A. Milne Pooh books but she got bored and made us stop.

Tonight we’re going to set off into J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. It remains to be seen whether we’ll get there and back again. It’s frankly amazing that she might be old enough to enjoy this book, but she’s only about a year and a half younger than I was when I read it (to myself) the first time so I guess it’s not so terribly crazy.
