more typing
Monday, December 13th, 2010Here’s some more typing Nora did last night and this morning. She doesn’t need help with ‘Jisoo’, ‘Nokina’ (friends from school) or ‘Nora’ anymore. Other words she says to us and we tell her the letters which she then finds and presses.

Sisterhood of the traveling onesie 2
Saturday, December 11th, 2010I’ve posted before about the fantastic striped onesie Nora got to use for a while when she was little. Now I’m happy to say it’s getting love again on the back of Zara’s little sister, Amity.
Note: Amity is just being held upside down in this picture. She’s normally oriented the other way.
Sunday
Saturday, December 11th, 2010The day after Museumfest 2010 was, as so often happens, Sunday. I know it was Sunday because Nora told everyone who would (or wouldn’t) listen, “Today is Sunday because mommy is coming home today!”
We began the morning with a video chat with Salomé (not shown) which consisted almost entirely of two three year old girls whipping their heads back and forth and consoling crying dolls. It takes a while for Nora to get into the swing of a video chat but S is a dedicated conversation partner and this ended up being another remarkably successful chat session. Start watching the skies for Marty and his DeLorean because we totally live in the future.
After the chat we headed off to Livonia for lunch with Granny and the Baumgartners and then, after a long nap, off to the airport! Below is a ready-for-nap girl cuddling with Aunt Colleen and the happiest Nora ever tickling with Mommy and (a well consoled) Yellow Baby before a delightful dinner with Papa and Baba. I think Nora and I needed a weekend after our weekend.
MuseumFest 2010
Friday, December 10th, 2010This past Saturday Jen was in sunny, warm San Antonio, Texas. Nora and I muddled through by: making waffles from scratch for breakfast, visiting the hands on museum, visiting the dinosaur museum (aka the exhibit museum of natural history), having lunch at panera, taking a lovely nap (both of us), going to the library, buying a bottle of muriatic acid, grocery shopping, sharing a lovely dinner at home, reading, singing, bathtime, lots of cuddling, and finally collapsing into a deep, deep sleep (that lasted ALL. NIGHT. LONG.).
A great day and some okay photos to show for it (as always, click for larger (and sometimes different) picture).
Giant Earth
Thursday, December 9th, 2010We went to Michigan’s Exhibit Museum of Natural History on Saturday. From the front door you can see this giant image of the Earth from space. Nora yelled, “the Earth!”, threw her coat on the floor, and ran up to it. When I caught up she was asking me to turn it so she could see Michigan and Newfoundland (because we live in Michigan and Dearest Alan abides in Newfoundland). I explained that I, even with my phenomenal cosmic daddy powers, could not rotate the image in a photograph. This she took in stride, plopped her little hand down right exactly on Bolivia, and said “Daddy, Bolivia!”
She’s a lot smarter than we are and we are in trouble. We are in big trouble.
