pi day (observed)

March 15th, 2010 by clunis

The first annual Purple House Pi Day celebration was called on account of illness yesterday. Today, though, everyone is feeling better and we’re all decidedly in the mood for pi. So here’s how the new tradition works:

  1. bake a delicious pie
  2. measure its circumference
  3. measure its diameter
  4. divide the circumference by the diameter
  5. see how close we can get to π
  6. eat the pie!

We got 79.5cm circumference and 25.3cm diameter or a ratio of 3.142292. Not bad for our first try!

What kind of pie is it? It looks very tasty.

just a simple apple pie with an oatmeal & walnet struesel topping. I’m glad it looks yummy (it’s delicious).

That is an awesome looking pie…did you make the crust from scratch, too?? Let us know when the 2nd annual pi day will be. I’m sure Auntie Ginny and I will be able to make it. I’ll be retired at the end of this month – YEAH.

What a great way to celebrate anything. Hope you all are feeling better today.
