oddly excited
We got Nora a new car seat this weekend because she’s fixin’ to outgrow her current Graco SafeSeat any growth spurt now. We’re going to miss the baby bucket immensely. It’s a car seat, it’s a stroller, it’s a high chair at any restaurant with a booth. It even served as her crib on our trip to LA. We can leave her asleep in it when we’ve been out all day and she falls asleep in the car (to do that with the new seat would require actually leaving her in the car which I’m fairly certain is frowned upon by people who are not parents and who therefore should keep their fool opinions to themselves.)
So, um, anyway… the new seat is here and off-gassing in the dining room and Nora is… well? She’s just *way* too excited about this new car seat.

Oh, it’s so sad when they outgrow the infant seat! But don’t worry, she’ll probably still fall asleep in the carseat, and you’ll become pros at moving Nora without waking her. Unless, like my M, she wakes up when you put the car in park :( J, on the other hand, can still be moved without waking up, if you are willing to carry 40+ pounds upstairs to put him in bed! Love the polka dots, by the way!

we’re definitely relishing the last few weeks of infant seat. :)

is that a marathon? have you tried it in your car backwards yet? :)

yes, it’s a marathon (nice eye). It will fit. Jen wanted to try it before we bought it, but I adamantly refused. “It will fit,” I assured her. “What can it hurt to try?” she pleaded. “Back satan!” I exclaimed. Nora clapped and giggled.
This reminds me that Nora clapping and Nora signing “more” look virtually identical. I suppose they’re semantically related.

excellent call on the marathon. it may technically fit, but in smaller cars they are not roomy when backwards. then there’s the whole do we turn her forwards once she hits 20 lbs (since she will undoubtedly already be a year) or is she one of those kiddos who will stay happy backwards? even though backwards is safer, we decided to turn Z around as soon as she hit 20 (at her 1 year appt) – towards the end she couldn’t stand being backwards anymore and we decided we were much more likely to get into an accident with the acrobatics required to make her happy than if she was just facing us…
also – that’s funny about more and clapping. zara’s more looked a lot like the sign for “pain” though we never taught her that… think that’s semantically related? ;)
