in the closet

We have a little bit of a backlog of Montana pictures still to post, but we’re home and safe and Nora is happily exercising her newfound crawling and pulling-up abilities. Last night we put her in her crib to learn that it urgently needed to be lowered yet again [not pictured: screaming Nora standing at the side of her crib and reaching both arms out over the front pleading with one of us to pick her up]. So we lowered the crib to its lowest setting, she got a great night’s sleep, and this morning she learned to do this:
It’s a darn good thing we baby-proofed the living room before leaving.

judging from this picture she’ll be scaling that bookshelf next…

yeah, that’s totally what she was thinking. This afternoon she tried to climb up into the refrigerator while I was unloading groceries. She’s darn lucky I’m not walking around the house right now trying to figure out where the heck the baby is.

Oh, my kids LOVED “helping” me with anything refrigerator-related! Now they just open it and help themselves….

Those books are not SAFE!!. Glad you had a great, relaxing vacation. Now back to the grind.

Do you mean the books aren’t safe because she’s going to eat them up (not safe FROM her) or because she’s going to pull them down on her head (not safe FOR her) or both?
It was a business trip, actually, and not vacation. I was there to interview some members of the Montana Salish Indian tribe. Their language is quite remarkable and I brought along our portable ultrasound machine to capture movies of their tongues speaking. Hopefully it will be useful way of helping to preserve the language.

Ahh - the answer about how you pick your ‘vacation’ spots. Sounds like a pretty interesting trip - and the beautiful surroundings were a bonus!
