at least I don’t have to wash it out of hair

Nora had oatmeal with blueberries for lunch today and heavens is blueberry hard to wash off a wiggling baby!

So what does Nora eat? Yesterday she had a lovely dish I like to call `peanoa’ (mushed steamed peas in very lightly spiced quinoa). So far she’s had (in addition to breastmilk, of course):

fruits

  • avocado
  • applesauce
  • banana (her favorite)
  • blueberries

veggies

  • peas
  • sweet potato (second favorite)

grains (we mill these)

  • brown rice
  • barley
  • oatmeal
  • quinoa

So not a particularly varied selection so far, but we’ve been taking it slow and being probably a lot more cautious about introducing foods than is necessary. Wholesome Baby Foods is a nice web site and has given us some useful information, but I think it imparts more worry than is sensible — rather like “what to expect”. We’re going to open up the food gates a little bit this week. On deck for the next week or so:

  • green beans (tonight)
  • snap peas
  • broccoli
  • rutabaga?
  • pears
  • peaches
  • lentils
  • flax seed
