Nora’s not too sure about this thing we call “sitting up”. . . .

In this video we see Nora smiling, laughing, spitting-up, and weeping. It’s all in a day’s work, really.

Two couples were applying for marriage licenses when we lined up yesterday to get N’s birth certificate. The proto-groom of couple B turned to me and said “that’s a little baby… I’m gonna have to get me one of them.” The look of panic on the proto-bride’s face was absolutely priceless — alas, the only photographic evidence of the outing is this snap of Nora in her outdoor clothes, ready to go.

It didn’t occur to either of us to get a shot of Nora in the carrier, but we’ll do that next time.
Yesterday was huge. Nora celebrated her six week birthday by laughing for the first time. I went back to work outside the house. Jen saw her doctor and is doing very well. And we wrapped the whole thing up in, get this, a decent night of sleeping. As of last night, Nora has officially slept “through the night” by completing five contiguous hours of nighttime slumber. Five hours may not seem like very much to you lucky people out there in 7 or 8 hour land, but we’ll take it.

Let’s hope this wasn’t a one time event…
Our cousins Geraldine & Mavis were kind enough to send this lovely white teddy bear from Ireland for Christmas. Nora thinks he’s delicious!

No babies or teddy bears were harmed in the taking of this picture.
Nora decided to celebrate the new year by learning how to hold her head up. Amazingly, she did not spit up on me at all while taking this picture.

Professional baby on closed course. Do not attempt.
